Congressman Dale Strong secured more than $6.2 million for water and sewer improvements in rural North Alabama communities. Ardmore and Triana leaders say the federal funding will modernize essential infrastructure and support long-term community growth.

North Alabama communities are set to receive major infrastructure upgrades after Congressman Dale Strong secured more than $6.2 million in federal funding for rural water and sewer improvements. The funding was approved as part of H.R. 5371, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies bill, which was signed into law this week.

The bill includes $5,175,000 for the Town of Ardmore to build a new groundwater treatment facility. The project will replace failing wells and provide residents with a sustainable and dependable source of clean drinking water.

“Every community deserves access to safe drinking water and reliable infrastructure,” said Strong. “This new facility gives Ardmore a long-term solution families and businesses can count on.”

Ardmore Mayor Billy Shannon said the town’s aging water system has struggled to keep up with growth.

“Our aging tanks and limited capacity have made it difficult to meet demand,” Shannon said. “This federal funding is a major victory for Ardmore. We simply could not take on a project of this size without Congressman Strong’s support.”

The package also provides $1,087,500 for the Town of Triana to upgrade its sanitary sewer system. The improvements will ensure the system remains fully operational during power outages and can support the town’s continued growth.

“The improvements in Triana will strengthen the town’s sewer system and ensure dependable service,” Strong said.

Mayor Mary Caudle said Strong has long been an advocate for Triana.

“This much-needed funding allows us to make critical wastewater upgrades,” Caudle said. “It’s a major win for our town.”

Strong, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, said he will continue fighting to ensure North Alabama receives its fair share of federal investment as FY26 spending bills advance.

“These projects strengthen rural communities, boost public health, and deliver real results for North Alabama,” he said.
