Alabama has one of the lowest life expectancies in the country, but, as with other states, women here live longer than men.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, the average life expectancy for people in Alabama is 75.2 years, ranking ahead of only West Virginia (74.5 years) Mississippi (74.4 years) as the lowest in the country. The average woman in Alabama lives until 78.2 years; the average man lives 72.2 years.
The data is from 2019, so doesn’t include the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
