INTRODUCTION: This lesson is rooted in a broad range of biblical texts unified by  the theme of work as transcends Christian duty.  Historically, the notion of labor transcends utilitarian function and is purpose.  At times people struggles with idleness.  Beginning with creation, God ordained work, God ordained work not only as a means of self-support but also as a channel for generosity toward others. All people must work; it is a means in which we can honor God’s intention for humanity.

From the moment that God made man and woman, we had tasks to perform that reflect that reflect the work of creation that God willingly undertook.  It is in the same spirit that the same the decision to create that we should support and share from the bounty that God has given to us.  It is through work that should gladly work to support ourselves.  Although for each person work may be defined differently, the need for the need for and the basis of it are the same. Work is the method by which God provides for us and grants us the opportunity to be generous those in need.  Some may think of work merely as a means of production Work is the method by which God provides for us and grants us the opportunity to be generous to those in need. God worked to create the world. He could have assigned the task to other beings, but creation was accomplished through the activity of the Godhead.  This matters because humanity, made in the image and likeness of God, reflects of God, reflects this nature work is basic to both men and women.  The work of God and of Jesus.  Work is marked by both energy and urgency. Jesus taught that work must be that work must be timely yet purposeful, for opportunities do not last forever.  Illness or limitation may prevent some from working, but where possible, work brings dignity to life and glorifies God.

It is through work that we work that we can be a  blessing to others who may not have the same means that we have.  Sometimes, our work is the method we bless others.  For those who have dedicated their live to service, giving is a way of life.  Whether we work of give by working, it is clear that giving that God calls us to generosity through our labor.  Work, is not simply a means to support one’s life, but it is a way for us to live in the purpose and design of God for our lives.

God’s Creative Work.  (Genesis 2:18; Exodus 20:19).

The Genesis account of Creation reminds us that work. has always been part of God’s plan.  Adam worked in the garden of Eden,  but God saw that he needed help.  Eve was not just a companion, but also as a partner in the shared life. This shows that men and women were both were that men and women were both meant to work together. Work was never to be lonely or self-centered something that builds community and reflects God’s design.  Our time is limited.  Opportunities to serve God and others do not last forever,  God’s mission is shared work.  Each believer has a unique role, and together we fulfill God’s purpose.  Discovering purpose begins with God,  the one who calls us.  We learn it through Scripture, prayer, wise, and sometimes by out in faith.  Purpose is not usually about one dramatic moment but about steady, faithful obedience.  Each day offers a chance to do the work of God while it is still day.
