Graham Daniel Ash, 42, of Pinson, Alabama, was sentenced April 21, 2026 to four life terms plus 280 years in federal prison for the sexual exploitation and abuse of more than 25 children ranging from ages 7 to 14. Ash was already a convicted sex offender at the time of his crimes.

PINSON — A Jefferson County man who sexually exploited and abused more than two dozen children across the United States has been sentenced to four life terms plus 280 years in federal prison, Northern District of Alabama Acting U.S. Attorney Catherine L. Crosby announced Tuesday.

Graham Daniel Ash, 42, of Pinson, pleaded guilty in December 2025 to an 11-count federal indictment that included the sexual exploitation of children, transportation of child pornography, coercion and enticement of minors, aggravated sexual abuse of a
child, and penalties for registered sex offenders. Ash was already a convicted sex offender, having received a 15-year suspended sentence in Jefferson County in 2022 for electronic solicitation of a child.

The investigation began in August 2023 after Ash — who operated online under the username “darkmind36” — distributed child sexual abuse images and videos to an undercover FBI agent. A federal search warrant executed at his Pinson home recovered a laptop and two smashed cell phones. Forensic examination of his devices and online accounts revealed crimes committed between February and October 2023 involving victims across multiple states.

Ash traveled out of state to rape an 11-year-old child. In total, investigators identified more than 25 minor victims ranging in age from 7 to 14, located throughout the country. He also pleaded guilty in Washington, D.C., to coercion and enticement of a minor afte communicating with an undercover agent posing as the father of an 8-year-old girl. That court sentenced him to 18 years in April 2025.

The FBI Birmingham Field Office’s Violent Crimes Against Children Unit led the investigation, with assistance from law enforcement agencies in 14 states. Assistant U.S. Attorney R. Leann White prosecuted the case.
