Oakwood University invited former Municipal Court Judge Lynn Sherrod to address the student body on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., in the Oakwood University Church. The theme for the month’s events is ‘Let Us March On’ and Judge Sherrod spoke on the role of African American women in history.

Annually the Black History Month Committee of the university selects four honorees to receive a “Community Hero Award,” for their work in various fields, from arts and culture to diversity and inclusion, and civic service.

“Black History Month presents a special opportunity for Oakwood University to show how much we value individuals who have served our community with excellence,” remarked Oakwood’s Provost, Dr. Colwick Wilson.

All Thursday programs are free and open to the public.
