Myles Moore is an Alabama A&M University (AAMU) senior in the Department of Mechanical & Civil Engineering and Construction Management. He has a cumulative GPA 3.70 and will be graduating in May 2019.
ALSAMP Program Director, Dr. Jeanette Jones, provided the financial support for Moore’s internship at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) through the Office of Educational Programs during summer 2017. Under the direction of research mentor Mebougna Drabo, AAMU associate professor of mechanical engineering, Moore was able to accomplish significant works in the area of computational fluid dynamics, and simulation of fluid flow in a dilution tunnel used to test particulate emission.
Moore has demonstrated commitment to his academics, which has resulted in success at the university on many levels. His efforts have produced high quality results throughout his community service and research projects. In 2018, he received the 2nd Place for research presentation at AAMU’s STEM Day and 3rd Place for research presentation at the NSF LSAMP Research Conference. Moore has been offered a job from Northrop Grumman and upon graduation will begin his career as an electromechanical engineer.
Due to his ongoing research project at BNL led by Dr. Drabo, Moore has been selected to receive the Student Research Award at the 2019 Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA). This national recognition is for outstanding students in the STEM fields. This Student Research Award also serves to recognize students who are striving to make outstanding contributions to the varied aspects of STEM education through research and presentation.
