Pastor Dr. Peyton Hill will lead Christ City Church as the new Huntsville congregation officially launches Sunday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. on Sparkman Drive NW.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — As Huntsville continues attracting new families, professionals and college students, a new congregation is preparing to establish roots in one of Alabama’s fastest-growing cities.

Led by Pastor Dr. Peyton Hill, Christ City Church will officially launch Sunday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. at 1705 Sparkman Drive NW, near the University of Alabama in Huntsville and MidCity.

Church leaders describe the congregation’s mission as “making and mobilizing disciples,” with Jesus Christ at the center of its worship, biblical teaching and community life.

Christ City Church was sent by City Church in Tallahassee, Florida, in partnership with the Send Network and The Salt Network. Years of prayer, preparation and development of a launch team preceded the Huntsville opening.

College ministry will be a major part of the church’s outreach. Through The Salt Company, Christ City hopes to connect students with Christian teaching, worship and community.

“We love the students at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama A&M, Calhoun Community College, and the other college campuses who are making important decisions about their futures and searching for purpose and direction,” the church states.

The launch comes as Huntsville continues experiencing substantial population growth, bringing young professionals, military families, engineers, researchers and students into the region.

Beginning Sept. 13, Christ City Church plans to hold weekly Sunday services at 10 a.m.

For Hill and the new congregation, the vision extends beyond establishing another weekly worship service. Christ City says it hopes to serve its neighbors, reach college campuses and build Christian community as Huntsville continues to grow and change.
