HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — In celebration of National Bike Month, the City of Huntsville has accepted a public bicycle maintenance station donated by the Huntsville Urban Bike Share Co-op, known as HUBS Co-op.
The donated station is valued at $1,950 and will be available for public use once its final location is selected. City officials said the site will be chosen through collaboration and careful consideration.
The donation is designed to make Huntsville more bike-friendly and accessible for riders of all skill levels. The station can be placed in public spaces such as parks, trails, or recreation centers, giving cyclists a convenient place to handle basic repairs.
The unit includes nine common bike tools attached with retractable braided stainless-steel cables, along with a tire pump and long air hose. Riders will be able to inflate tires, adjust seats and handlebars, tighten bolts, adjust brakes, and handle other minor repairs.
Jacob Hell of HUBS Coop said the nonprofit was grateful for the opportunity to donate the Saris Deluxe Workstand to the city. He said HUBS Coop repairs and donates bicycles at no charge to the Huntsville community and understands how important it is for residents to have safe, working bikes.
“This work stand will allow cyclists to repair their bikes using bike-specific tools at a city park,” Hell said.
The donation supports a growing focus on healthy transportation, outdoor recreation, and community connection across Huntsville. As more residents use trails, parks, and neighborhood routes, public repair tools can help remove small barriers that keep people from riding safely and confidently.
