North Alabama has landed another major win. Japan-based JST Corporation, a global leader in electronic connector design and manufacturing, announced plans to invest $500 million in a state-of-the-art facility at Conners Island Business Park near Lake Guntersville. The project will create 80 new full-time jobs, in addition to the 25 JST employees already working in Marshall County.
Founded in Osaka, Japan, in 1957, JST operates roughly 70 facilities across 17 countries. The new 540,000-square-foot production complex will sit on a 240-acre property adjacent to Lake Guntersville. Featuring a landscape-friendly design, it will house automated injection molding, stamping, plating, and cable assembly lines, as well as a separate 10,000-square-foot building for sales, marketing, and engineering. It represents JST’s first major investment in the Southeastern United States.
“When companies move to Alabama, the talented and hard-working people of our state come alongside them in every way. From committed employees to loyal supporters, they are focused on success,” Governor Kay Ivey said. “We are thrilled to see JST grow its presence in Guntersville and eager to watch this new operation come to life.”
For residents across the Tennessee Valley, the impact reaches beyond a new factory. Advanced manufacturing jobs mean higher wages, workforce training opportunities, and a stronger tax base that supports schools, roads, and services. JST has operated a smaller facility in Guntersville since 2003, and local leaders credit the area’s skilled workforce for sealing the deal. Speakin’ Out News urges community members to explore apprenticeship and technical training programs so our neighbors are first in line for these careers.
