HUNTSVILLE — Alabama A&M University’s Dr. Felicia Farrar has earned global recognition as one of the Top 50 Women in Accounting for 2026, highlighting her leadership and commitment to opening professional doors for students.
Farrar, director of AAMU’s MBA program and accounting coordinator, was selected from 1,265 nominations representing 835 nominees. According to Farrar, she is the first AAMU professor to receive the honor.
“The best part of teaching at Alabama A&M University is the opportunity to transform students’ lives,” Farrar said.
A certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner, Farrar promotes financial literacy, access to CPA preparation, and greater representation in accounting. Her professional experience includes service with the IRS.
She chairs the National Association of Black Certified Public Accountants’ board and serves on the Delaware State Board of Public Accountancy. She also represents Alabama as an American Institute of Certified Public Accountants council member at large.
Farrar has advised AAMU’s Accounting and Finance Club for four years, helping students connect classroom learning with certifications, internships, conferences, and career opportunities in the accounting profession.
