AAMU students Ruth Fennell, Karyn Marie Rose and Taylor-Nicole Tate are serving simultaneously on the national MANRRS Executive Committee during the 2026-27 term, a first for the university.

Three Alabama A&M University students are making history as the first group from the university to serve simultaneously on the national MANRRS Executive Committee.

Ruth Fennell, Karyn Marie Rose, and Taylor-Nicole Tate are serving during the 2026-27 term. All three study in AAMU’s College of Agricultural, Life and Natural Sciences.

MANRRS stands for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences. The organization provides professional development, networking, mentorship and leadership opportunities.

Fennell, a food science doctoral student from Miami, serves as national past graduate student president. Rose, a food science doctoral student from Dallas, serves as Region III national graduate vice president. Tate, a senior food science major from Orlando, Florida, serves as Region III national undergraduate vice president.

“MANRRS has become much more than a professional organization to me,” Fennell said.

Dr. Armitra Jackson-Davis, associate professor and Morrison Chapter co-adviser, called the achievement a first for AAMU.

The chapter has sent students to the national conference for eight years, helping them build relationships, explore careers and develop leadership skills in agriculture and related sciences.
