HUNTSVILLE — Twenty-five Alabama A&M University students completed nearly 60 interviews and received more than 20 internship and career offers during the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute, held Sept. 9-12 in Washington.

Twenty-one participants were AAMU Honors Scholars. The four-day institute connected students with executives, Fortune 500 companies and government agencies through leadership sessions, networking and recruiting.

Autumn Peoples, a junior finance major and returning institute scholar, completed four interviews and received a job offer while attending.

“Get comfortable with being uncomfortable,” Peoples said.

Isaiah Taylor, a senior and TMCF Yard Ambassador, served as master of ceremonies for the opening session and connected with representatives from Shell, Truist, PepsiCo and Fidelity.

The experience also highlighted alumni success. Jarrett Davis, an Honors Class of 2025 graduate, returned to interview students for Caterpillar. Tia Patterson, an Honors Class of 2013 graduate, recruited for John Deere.

Carla Draper Holloway, AAMU’s TMCF campus coordinator, said the university has regularly sent large student delegations since she assumed the role in 2006, continuing a tradition that began before her tenure.
