HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—More than 50 female artists and music professionals are taking center stage as Women in Music Week returns for its eighth year, bringing performances and creative programming to venues throughout Huntsville.
Presented September 11–20 during Huntsville Music Month, the celebration highlights women’s voices, talents and leadership across multiple musical genres. The citywide format also encourages audiences to discover local performers while supporting the venues and organizations helping Huntsville’s music industry grow.
The festivities opened Friday, September 11, with Sippy and special guest Molly Water performing at Rocket City Honky Tonk. Additional artists and events are scheduled across the city through September 20.
Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella said the celebration places a “well-deserved spotlight” on the talent, creativity and leadership of women within the local music community. He also encouraged residents to explore different genres and support the women shaping Huntsville’s sound.
Alli Johnson, Women in Music Week executive producer with Artemis Productions, said the event celebrates local female artists while creating opportunities for them to showcase their work. Johnson credited support from the Huntsville Music Office and a shared commitment to strengthening the creative community with helping the event build momentum.
Women in Music Week extends beyond individual performances by increasing the visibility of women working throughout the music industry. Singers, musicians, producers, and other professionals receive opportunities to connect with audiences and expand their presence within Huntsville’s developing music economy.
