ATHENS, Ala.—North Alabama’s gospel-music heritage received a statewide spotlight when Alabama Gospel Roots brought a live television taping to Seven Mile Post Road Church in Athens on Saturday, September 12.
The public event began at 10 a.m. at the church, located at 14435 Seven Mile Post Road. One Voice hosted the gathering, inviting gospel performers, worshippers, and community members to perform before a live audience.
Organizers promote Alabama Gospel Roots as a program appearing on Alabama Public Television. The production provides a platform for Southern gospel artists and ministries while preserving musical traditions that remain deeply connected to Alabama’s churches and communities.
Bringing the taping to Limestone County gave North Alabama performers an opportunity to share their ministries with viewers beyond the region. It also placed a local church at the center of a television production celebrating Christian music, testimony and evangelism.
Gospel television programs can be especially meaningful for homebound residents, older adults and people who cannot regularly attend concerts or worship services. Through television and online programming, viewers can experience performances while learning about churches, quartets and individual artists from across Alabama.
Seven Mile Post Road Church describes its work as centered on worship, Bible study, fellowship and community service. Hosting the program expanded that ministry beyond the congregation’s physical sanctuary.
The Athens taping represented more than an entertainment production. It documented a living religious tradition and allowed gospel artists to share messages of faith, encouragement, and hope with a broader audience.
