HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — West Mastin Lake Baptist Church honored Dr. Willie L. Hinton Sr. for 36 years of pastoral leadership during an anniversary service held Sunday, Aug. 23.
The celebration centered on the theme, “Still Standing with the Help of the Lord,” drawn from Acts 26:22. Pastor Gregory M. Miller of Flint River Primitive Baptist Church served as guest speaker.
The service brought together church members, ministers, deacons, and musical guests to recognize Hinton’s spiritual leadership and impact. Sister Mary Woods served as mistress of ceremony. The program included reflections on the pastor’s influence, words of support, inspirational singing by the Flint River P.B. Church Choir, a poem, solo, special presentations, and remarks from Hinton and his wife, Dr. Doris Hinton.
Doris Hinton has served at West Mastin Lake since 1990 in numerous capacities. A Richton, Mississippi, native, she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s degree in management from Florida Institute of Technology, and graduate nursing degrees from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, including a Doctor of Nursing Practice.
Her nursing career has included family practice, public health, pediatrics, psychiatric and cardiac care, nursing education, and supervision. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as a prevention leader while working at the VA Medical Center in Atlanta. She is currently a clinical instructor at Drake State Community and Technical College.
The Hintons have been married since 1978 and have two sons and a granddaughter. Together, they were celebrated for their enduring ministry, family commitment, and faithful service to the Huntsville church community.
