ALBERTVILLE, Ala. — Two men were killed and a third seriously wounded after an early-morning confrontation at a home under construction escalated into an exchange of gunfire, according to the Albertville Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 1:15 a.m. Aug. 30 to the 1400 block of Oneonta Cut-Off Road after receiving a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered two men dead from apparent gunshot wounds and another man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators identified those killed as Hunter Lawrence Moore, 27, and Starsky Dewayne Davis, 50, both of Albertville.
Police said Davis’ son, Starsky Levi Davis, 25, owned the property where the shooting occurred. According to investigators, the younger Davis and his father confronted Moore after reportedly believing he was prowling around the construction site.
An altercation followed and eventually escalated into gunfire exchanged between Moore and the two property owners, police said. Authorities have not released information explaining what led to the confrontation or identifying who reportedly fired first.
The first Albertville officer to arrive provided emergency medical assistance to the younger Davis, including applying a tourniquet. Albertville Fire & Rescue personnel continued treating him before a medical helicopter transported him to Huntsville Hospital.
Davis underwent surgery and is expected to survive his injuries, according to police.
The Albertville Police Department Detective Division is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No criminal charges had been announced as of the latest report. Authorities said they would release additional information as appropriate during the investigation.
