HUNTSVILLE — Democratic congressional candidate Andrew Sneed outraised incumbent U.S. Rep. Dale Strong during the latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) reporting period, marking the second consecutive filing in which the North Alabama challenger reported higher fundraising totals than the Republican congressman.
According to campaign finance reports covering April 30 through June 30, 2026, Sneed raised $177,789.53, while Strong reported $125,570.65, giving Sneed a fundraising advantage of more than $57,000 during the three-month period.
The filings also highlight notable differences in where each campaign’s financial support originated.
FEC records show that more than 90% of Sneed’s contributions came from individual donors living within Alabama’s 5th Congressional District, with the exception of a $1,000 contribution from a leadership political action committee. Sneed’s campaign said it has not accepted donations from corporate political action committees, AIPAC, or so-called dark-money organizations.
By comparison, Strong reported 37 individual contributors during the filing period, with 15 donors residing within the district, all from Madison County. According to the campaign finance reports, more than 90% of Strong’s fundraising came from political action committees, business executives, lobbyists, and other organized political donors.
Sneed, a plumber and small-business owner, said the latest filing reflects growing grassroots support throughout North Alabama.
“I’m honored and humbled to continue receiving such incredible support from so many individuals across the 5th District,” Sneed said in a statement. “People are looking for leadership that puts North Alabama families first.”
The 5th Congressional District includes Madison, Limestone, Lauderdale, Jackson, Morgan, and portions of several surrounding counties, making it one of Alabama’s most economically influential congressional districts.
Strong, first elected to Congress in 2022 after serving as Madison County Commission chairman, is seeking another term representing the district.
With more than three months remaining before Election Day, political observers say fundraising will remain a key indicator of campaign momentum as both candidates work to mobilize voters across North Alabama.
