Nordstrom Rack is heading to Huntsville with a new 24,000-square-foot store planned for University Plaza, adding another major retail name to one of the city’s busy shopping destinations.
The off-price retail chain will open alongside Best Buy and HomeGoods, strengthening University Plaza’s position as a regional shopping hub for North Alabama. The store is expected to offer discounted apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty products, and home items from national and designer brands.
Nordstrom Rack sells clothing for women, men, and children, along with shoes, handbags, jewelry, cosmetics, skincare, fragrances, and select home décor. Shoppers can find everyday fashion and designer labels at lower prices than traditional department stores. The store is also known for online order pickup and returns through Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack websites.
The announcement comes as Huntsville continues to attract new retailers, restaurants, and mixed-use development tied to the city’s growing economy. For local shoppers, the new Nordstrom Rack means another option for brand-name merchandise without traveling to larger metro markets.
The addition is also a business signal. National retailers often follow population growth, household income trends, and strong traffic patterns. Nordstrom Rack’s move into University Plaza suggests continued confidence in Huntsville’s retail market.
For University Plaza, the store adds a marquee brand to a shopping center already supported by major national tenants. For Huntsville, it marks another sign that growth is reshaping where residents shop, spend, and gather.
