The Weekend Warrior Soccer Tournament is set to bring adult teams back to Huntsville in late July. Organizers say the Open Division winner will take home at least a $3,000 cash prize.

Adult soccer players from across the region are being called back to Huntsville this summer as the Weekend Warrior Soccer Tournament returns July 25-26, 2026, with at least a $3,000 cash prize on the line in its Open Division. Tournament organizers say the long-running 7-on-7 event has been held since 2007 and continues to grow, offering divisions for women, co-ed teams, over-30, over-40, over-50, recreation players, and the featured open cash bracket. The event’s website says more than 650 participants and over 50 teams have taken part, with players from 13 states attending the February tournament. Huntsville-area organizers are pitching the event as both a competition and a community event, built around small-sided games, a social atmosphere, and summer matches played under the lights.

For Huntsville, the tournament speaks to something bigger than weekend recreation. It reflects the city’s growing ability to attract regional amateur sports traffic, filling fields, hotels, and restaurants while giving local players a chance to compete close to home. The open-division prize, sponsored by Bowers Plumbing, also adds a sharper edge for teams looking to treat the event as serious competition rather than just a reunion runout. At a time when sports tourism is becoming an increasingly important part of the area’s economy, the return of Weekend Warrior reinforces Huntsville’s reputation as a host city that can blend organized competition with repeat-visitor energy. It is also a reminder that community sports culture does not end with youth leagues or pro teams. In North Alabama, there is a growing appetite for adult events that still feel local, affordable, and worth circling on the calendar
