BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: BOB JONES GIRLS WIN TITLE IN NIKE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

The top-ranked Class 7A Patriots of Bob Jones flexed their muscles in Arizona this week to roll through their 16-team bracket in the Nike Tournament of Champions. Bob Jones won the John Anderson Bracket of the event in Mesa, Ariz., beating Mullen of Denver, 47-41 in the championship game.

No. 1 Class 6A Hazel Green, meanwhile, lost three of its four games in the Vincent Cannizzaro Bracket to drop to 14-3 on the season. All 16 of the teams in the Cannizzaro Bracket were nationally ranked.

In Thursday’s championship game, bracket Most Outstanding Player 5-foot-9 senior guard Alana Obianozie led Bob Jones – also 14-3 on the season – with 18 points. Jordyn Fields, another senior guard, added 8 for the Patriots.

Jae Smith, a 5-10 sophomore, and 5-10 junior forward Jaliyah Smith were also selected for the all-tournament team.

On Wednesday in the semifinals, the Patriots beat Carondelet of Concord, Calif., 44-36. Bob Jones handed the Cougars their first loss of the season after nine straight wins.

Bob Jones rallied from a 22-16 halftime deficit, outscoring Carondelet 20-10 in the third quarter and 8-4 in the fourth.

Jae Smith led Bob Jones with 11 points. The sophomore also had 4 rebounds in the win.

On Tuesday, Bob Jones whipped St. Anthony of Long Beach, Calif., 65-49 in the second round. The Patriots dropped the Saints to 10-2 on the year.

Jaliyah Smith led the Patriots with 15 points. She also grabbed 5 rebounds. Janiyah Bone, Jae Smith and Obianozie scored 10 points each in the win. Jae Smith had 7 rebounds for Bob Jones.

On Monday, the Patriots opened the tournament with a 53-36 win over Phoenix (Ariz.) Country Day.

Obianozie led Bob Jones with 14 points.

Miami Country Day (Fla.) 49, Hazel Green 45

The Trojans lost a second straight game – for the first time since the 2015-16 season – on Thursday and finished 12th in the Vincent Cannizzaro Bracket.

In Thursday’s loss, Kaliah Morales led Miami Country Day with 15 points. Kayla Nelms added 9 for the Spartans.

Shorter University signee Amiya Redus led Hazel Green with 14 points. She also had 4 rebounds and 2 steals. University of Alabama signee Leah Brooks tossed in 13 points and had 6 rebounds. Kristen Johnson grabbed 7 rebounds to go with her 8 points.

On Wednesday, the Trojans lost their second game of the season, falling 63-58 to Folsom, Calif. It marked the first time since 2019-20 that Hazel Green has lost more than one game in a season.

Brooks had a double-double for Hazel Green with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Redus scored 10 points and had 4 rebounds and Addison Cantrell added 9 points.

Ella Uriarte scored 14 to lead Folsom. Jada Tupou scored 13 and Kamryn Mufua had 12.

On Tuesday, Hazel Green rebounded from its first loss of the year with a 60-57 win over Ontario (Calif.) Christian.

Brooks led the way with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Johnson scored 17 for the Trojans. She also had 4 rebounds. Redus added 9 points with 3 rebounds.

Kaleena Smith scored 31 points for Ontario Christian, the 15th-ranked team in California. Karsen Marshall scored 18.

On Monday, the Trojans lost their first game of the season 59-48 to Hebron Christian Academy of Dacula, Ga. The Lions were ranked 14th in the nation by ESPN coming into the tournament.

Kerra Butler and Aubrey Beckham led the winners with 17 points each.

Redus led Hazel Green with 13 points. Brooks scored 12 with 5 rebounds. Faulkner University signee Sydney Steward scored 10 and claimed 7 rebounds and Brett Douglas also scored 10 points.

Hazel Green hosts the BallN Prep National Showcase on Wednesday. The Trojans will play Callaway of Jackson, Miss., at 3 p.m.

UNITED BANK HOLIDAY INVITATIONAL

St. Paul VI Catholic (Va.) 49, Sparkman 43

The Chantilly, Va., team went on a 16-9 third-quarter run to overcome Sparkman’s 23-21 halftime lead to put the Senators away in the 25th annual United Bank Holiday Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Wednesday. Paul VI has won 24 state championships in Virginia, including the past two in a row.

University of Southern California signed Laura Williams led the winners with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Ava Limcaoco scored 12 for the Panthers.

Sophomore Hanna Horton led Sparkman with 13 points. Khloe Bradley added 10 for the Senators.

INSIDER EXPOSURE CHEROKEE INVITATIONAL

Lee-Huntsville 63, Luella (Ga.) 33

The Generals bounced back from a first-round loss to beat Luella on Thursday in the tournament in Cherokee, N.C.

Jayla Turner scored 22 points for Lee with 7 assists and 5 steals. Limaya Batimba had 15 points with 13 rebounds in the win.

On Wednesday, Milton, Ga., topped Lee 59-41. The Eagles raced to a 20-9 first-quarter lead, but Lee cut the margin to 22-18 at the half. Milton had another big quarter after intermission, outscoring the Generals 20-10.

Batimba led Lee in the loss with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

NON-TOURNAMENT GAMES

Sparkman 59, Buckhorn 42

The second-ranked Class 7A Senators improved to 10-3 on the year with the road win at Buckhorn on Monday.

Nicholls State signees Laryn Scott and Jamya Griffin led Sparkman with 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Kayla Childress led Buckhorn with 14 points. Jarmine Montague added 10 for the Bucks.

Danville 65, Falkville 49

Reagan Prater scored 15 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and had 5 steals as the Hawks took the home win on Tuesday.

Maddie Sherrill scored 11 points, made 7 steals and had 6 rebounds for Danville. Adily Alberti scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds. Olivia Vest and Ella Kate Tidwell also had 10 points each.

West Morgan 60, Danville 48

The Rebels picked up the home win on Monday.

Adily Alberti led Danville with 18 points. She also had 3 rebounds. Reagan Prater scored 9 points and made 4 steals.

HOLIDAY BEACH BASH

Pine Forest (Fla.) 45, Gulf Shores 40

Pine Forest of Pensacola knocked off Gulf Shores on Thursday, the final day of the Dolphins’ Beach Bash, dropping the host team to 15-3 on the year. It was the first game of the year that the Class 5A No. 4 Dolphins were held without a 3-pointer.

Gulf Shores trailed 22-21 at the half and 33-31 headed into the final period.

Senior guard Alyssa Thompson led the Dolphins with 16 points. She also had 3 steals. Junior Keyona Royal scored 11 points and claimed 5 rebounds.

Niylia Wilkins scored 21 points to lead Pine Forest.

Gulf Shores 65, West Florida 45

The Dolphins dominated the second half, outscoring the Pensacola team 45-19 for the win on Tuesday.

Gulf Shores’ starters led the way with Keyona Royal scoring 22 points with 9 rebounds. Tristyn Baggett had a season-high 14 points with 6 rebounds. Maggie Myers had 13 points and 7 rebounds. Alyssa Thompson had 4 assists and 3 steals to go with her 8 points. Point guard Maya Griffin also scored 8 points with 2 assists and a pair of steals.

Pensacola 45, Gulf Shores 41

The Dolphins, playing their second game of the day on Monday in their tournament after another team was a late dropout, rallied in the fourth period, but fell short against Pensacola.

Gulf Shores led 11-10 after one quarter before the Tigers pulled to a 22-13 halftime edge and a 37-25 lead headed into the fourth period. The Dolphins outscored Pensacola 16-8 in the final period.

Keyona Royal led Gulf Shores with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Maya Griffin had 6 steals to go with 7 points.

Zion Perkins had a double-double for Pensacola with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Gulf Shores 42, Gulfport (Miss.) 28

The Dolphins rallied in the second half to win their first game of their tournament on Monday. Gulf Shores led 15-7 after one quarter, but trailed 21-20 at the half. In the second half, Gulf Shores outscored Gulfport 22-7, including 12-4 in the fourth period.

Senior Alyssa Thompson scored 13 points in the win. She also had 9 steals. Keyona Royal had her sixth double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Maya Griffin and Maggie Myers had 9 points each.

Shamiya Walker scored 11 points for 1-9 Gulfport.

NON-TOURNAMENT GAMES

St. Martin (Miss.) 57, Fairhope 52

The Pirates fell on the road at Ocean Springs, Miss., on Thursday, snapping a seven-game winning streak for Fairhope.

Murphy Creel scored 14 points to lead Fairhope (9-6). Peyton Frazer scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the loss. Ella Byrd also had 11 points for the Pirates.

Fairhope plays in the Sunshine Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla., next week.

At home on Tuesday, Fairhope topped B.C. Rain 48-36 as Ella Byrd notched a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Byrd scored 8 of her 12 points in the fourth quarter.

Nylah Loukides scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for the Pirates.

UMS-Wright 58, Davidson 54

UMS-Wright won the battle of Top 10 teams at home on Monday, rallying from a 28-18 first-half deficit before scorching the nets on the way to a 40-26 second-half performance.

UMS-Wright is 11-4 and ranked seventh in Class 4A while Davidson is 13-5 and sixth in 7A.

Juniors Ellie Mostellar and Ansleigh Ishee led the Bulldogs in the win with 17 points each. Ishee missed her first field-goal attempt of the game, but then hit eight in a row. Senior Noel Freeman claimed 14 rebounds for UMS-Wright.

Washington County 72, Marengo 24

Marengo jumped to a quick 4-0 lead before the Bulldogs responded with a 26-6 run in the first quarter on the way to the home rout at Chatom.

Shaquondra Holcombe led Washington County with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Tymiah Burrough scored 19 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the Bulldogs. Mia White also had 19 points with 11 steals and 7 assists.

BIRMINGHAM

LADY EAGLES CHRISTMAS CLASSIC

Daphne 46, Chelsea 34

The Class 7A No. 8 Trojans won two of three games in the tournament at Oak Mountain High School, dropping their first game of the season to enter the Christmas break at 15-1.

Daphne handed 7A No. 3 Chelsea its first loss of the season on Wednesday. La’Merrica Johnson scored 14 points to lead Daphne. She also had 3 rebounds. Kiera Watson scored 11 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and had a pair of steals. Tierra Bradley had 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists to go with her 6 points.

On Tuesday, the Trojans rolled past Tuscaloosa County 56-36. Abby Johnson led the winners with 16 points. She had 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Addison Luker scored 14 points with 3 rebounds and 2 assists. La’Merrica Johnson grabbed 9 rebounds to go with 8 points.

Thompson handed Daphne a 52-38 loss on Monday.

Abby Johnson and Victoria Moten scored 8 points each for Daphne. La’Merrica Johnson claimed 9 rebounds and had 4 assists.

THE MASERATI OF BIRMINGHAM INVITATIONAL

Vestavia Hills 53, Shades Valley 38

Class 7A No. 4 Vestavia Hills, the host of the inaugural event that wrapped up on Wednesday, won three straight games.

Huffman went 2-0 in the three-day Invitational after one of its opponents – Hartselle – was forced to drop out due to illnesses on the squad. The Vikings beat Pelham 47-39 on Monday and slipped past Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 47-44 on Wednesday.

In Vestavia’s win over Shades Valley on Wednesday, Sarah Gordon poured in 32 points, her second straight 30-plus points performance. Grayson Hudgens scored 10 in the win.

Zoe Little scored 14 for the Mounties and Rheagan Evans added 13.

On Tuesday, Vestavia Hills rolled past 7A No. 10 Foley 57-36. Gordon scored 30 points and Jill Gaylard had 13.

In a 56-44 win over Theodore on Monday, the Rebels had 10 players score. Gaylard led Vestavia Hills with 15 points.

Jazmyn Bigham scored 18 points for Theodore.

NON-TOURNAMENT GAMES

Spain Park 50, Gardendale 34

The Jaguars picked up the home win on Tuesday with Tori Flournoy leading all scorers with 15 points. Nylah Calhoun scored 12 for Spain Park.

Homewood 72, Childersburg 46

The Patriots improved to 15-3 on the year with the home win on Thursday.

Mira McCool, a 6-3 senior, registered a double-double in the win, scoring 19 points and claiming 11 rebounds. She also had 2 blocked shots. Ava Robinson scored 11 for Homewood. Savannah McDonald scored 10 points and had 8 rebounds.

On Monday, Homewood whipped Austin 67-37 with four players scoring in double figures.

Mira McCool scored 16 points, blocked 9 shots and grabbed 7 rebounds for the Patriots. Kayla Warren scored 13 points and had 3 assists and 3 steals. Lane Crowe scored 11 points and blocked 3 shots. McDonald added 10 points and had 4 rebounds.

JACK SCHWEERS CAPITAL CITY CLASSIC

Prattville Christian 59, Montgomery Catholic 38

The top-ranked Class 4A Panthers improved to 11-3 on the year with the win in the 29th annual Jack Schweers Capital City Classic at Trinity in Montgomery.

Jenna McClendon led Prattville Christian with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Kayden Carr scored 16 points and had 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Avery Rogers had 12 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds. Ally Blankenchip had 7 steals, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Baylee Rogers claimed 6 rebounds.

Pleasant Grove 41, Prattville Christian 31

Class 5A Pleasant Grove handed the top-ranked 4A Prattville Christian its third loss of the season in the semifinals of the 29th annual Jack Schweers Capital City Classic on Wednesday.

Kayden Carr scored 15 points and 7 rebounds for the 10-3 Panthers. Avery Rogers had 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Jenna McClendon hauled down 13 rebounds.

On Tuesday, the Panthers dominated Calhoun 65-11 in the opening round.

Rogers scored 18 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and had 4 assists for Prattville Christian.

Carr scored 17 points and finished with 5 steals and 4 rebounds. Leah Cate Wilson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ally Blankinchip had 7 assists and Baylee Rogers claimed 8 rebounds.

NON-TOURNAMENT GAMES

Carroll-Ozark 38, Luverne 33

Carroll slipped past Luverne at home on Tuesday, led by Taliyah Carter’s 11 points.

Zymirria Glanton scored 10 in the win and Ryanna Harris added 9.

On Monday, the Eagles had three players in double figures in a 57-53 home win over Cottonwood.

Carter led Carroll with 21 points. Glanton scored 17 in the win and Makynzye Bonner scored 12, going 4-for-4 on 3-pointers.

Frankasia Glover grabbed 6 rebounds for Carroll.

Glenwood School 66, Lakeside School 34

Glenwood improved to 10-4 on the year with the home win on Monday. The Gators jumped to a 14-8 first-quarter lead and led 32-16 at the half. Glenwood surged to a 17-4 fourth quarter to close out the game.

Chloe Helms led Lakeside (6-8) with 9 points. Allyson Erickson grabbed 11 rebounds to go with 8 points.

BIRMINGHAM

HUSKY HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT

Chelsea 51, Tuscaloosa County 39

The Hornets captured the tournament title at Helena on Wednesday with the win over Tuscaloosa County. Chelsea improved to 7-12 on the season.

Senior forward Avery Futch led Chelsea with 17 points. Christen Whetstone scored 13 in the win.

Jackson Moore scored 14 points to lead Tuscaloosa County.

The Hornets jumped to a 29-20 halftime edge and held off Hartselle 61-49 in the semifinals on Tuesday. Chelsea took a 45-39 lead into the final period.

Futch led four Chelsea double-figures scorers with 15 points, 11 in the first half. Christen Whetstone scored 14, with 12 after intermission. Gavin Collett scored 12 on four 3-pointers, three in the second half. Braden Macon scored 11 for Chelsea.

Rylan Smothers poured in 26 points for Hartselle, 15 in the second half. Ty Odom scored 14 for the Tigers.

On Monday, Chelsea beat Page of Franklin, Tenn., 48-42 to open the tournament.

Whetstone was the leading scorer for the Hornets with 16 points. Macon scored 10 for the winners.

Helena 62, Hartselle 58

The sixth-ranked Huskies raced to a 25-12 first-quarter lead on Wednesday and carried a 35-24 edge into halftime before Hartselle cut the lead to 45-43 headed into the final period.

Ian Johnigan led Helena with 26 points, 15 in the first half, with four 3-pointers. Drew Davis scored 17 in the win, hitting 9-of-12 free throws. Joseph King scored 10 for the Huskies.

Rylan Smothers scored 26 for Hartselle, tossing in 19 in the second half, with two 3-point buckets. Ty Odom scored 12, also with a pair of 3-pointers. Kohl Key scored 8 points for the Tigers.

Hartselle 75, UMS-Wright 40

The Tigers used a big second quarter to roll past UMS-Wright at Helena on Monday. Trailing 13-10 after one quarter, Hartselle dominated the Bulldogs 26-6 in the second period for a 36-19 halftime edge and rolled in the third and fourth quarters. The Tigers outscored UMS-Wright 19-14 in the third period and 20-7 in the fourth.

Hartselle had four players in double figures, led by Dawson Seal with 18 – on six 3-point buckets, four in the second half. Ty Odom scored 16, with four 3-pointers, and Rylan Smothers had 13. Markus Tapscott added 12 for the winners.

Sims Druhan led UMS-Wright with 11 points. Joe Lott had 8 with a pair of 3-point buckets.

D3 BASKETBALL CLASSIC MATCH-UP

Midfield 71, Central-Coosa 64

Second-ranked Class 3A Midfield eased past Class 2A No. 9 Central-Coosa on Monday in the inaugural D3 Basketball Classic Match-Up at Central-Coosa in Rockford.

Armonie Franklin led Midfield with 22 points. He had 5 assists and 4 rebounds in the win. Aaron Adams-Martin tossed in 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. DeJuan McKinney scored 13 points and had 5 steals.

Majavius Culpepper led the Cougars with 21 points. He also had 6 rebounds. Connor Mitchell scored 14 points for Central to go with 3 blocked shots.

MOBILE/COASTAL ALABAMA

DAPHNE HOLIDAY HOOPS

McGill-Toolen 62, Pace (Fla.) 20

The Yellow Jackets raced to a 17-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game and held Pace scoreless in the fourth quarter on Thursday, the final day of the tournament.

Jack Murphy tossed in 25 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead McGill-Toolen (11-4). Murphy also had 6 steals.

Ethan Stokes scored 16 points with 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in the win.

McGill-Toolen will play in the Gulf Coast Holiday Classic at Spring Hill College beginning Dec. 28.

On Wednesday, McGill-Toolen beat Hewitt-Trussville 39-29 on a night that defense ruled.

Zach Patrick led the winners with 11 points, 8 in the second period as McGill led 16-14 at the break. A Kellen Thompson 3-point buzzer-beater at the end of the third quarter and a Murphy long-range bomb to start the fourth gave the Jackets a 32-21 edge.

Stokes hit a free throw on a Hewitt technical foul with 1:35 remaining to give McGill-Toolen a 35-27 lead and the ball.

Grayson Brower scored 10 points and Thompson grabbed 9 rebounds in the win.

Ben Warren led the Huskies with 10 points.

On Tuesday, McGill-Toolen topped Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 59-46 as the Yellow Jackets rallied from a 4-point halftime lead with a 20-point third quarter. McGill carried a 45-32 lead into the final period in the win over Class 6A No. 8 Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.

McGill-Toolen also hit 16-of-22 free throws in the win.

Patrick scored 10 of his 15 points in the third period for McGill-Toolen and Stokes added 8 of his 15 in the same 8-minute span. Murphy scored 13 in the win.

Thompson claimed 11 rebounds and had 3 blocked shots for the winners. Brower had 5 assists to go with his 8 points.

Osa Alohan led Hillcrest with 15 points.

MAKO CHRISTMAS CLASSIC

Huntsville 50, Muscle Shoals 38

The top-ranked Class 7A Crimson Panthers held Muscle Shoals to just two made field goals in the second half on the way to the win in the semifinals of the tournament at Orange Beach High School on Thursday.

Huntsville (15-1), winners of 12 straight, will meet 11-1 Enterprise for the championship at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Caleb Harrison led the Panthers with a double-double, scoring 18 points with 11 rebounds. He also had 3 blocked shots. JD Gossett scored 16 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Simon Walker added 10 points with 3 assists and a pair of blocked shots.

On Wednesday, Huntsville rolled to a 47-20 halftime edge on the way to the first-round win in the Classic.

Huntsville earned its spot in the semifinals with an 85-64 win over Clay-Chalkville in the opening round.

Huntsville’s Harrison recorded a double-double, scoring 25 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He also had 3 assists. Brayden Rivers tossed in 19 points in the win. Gossett had 13 points with 5 assists and Walker scored 12 with 5 assists. Josh Bowman had 7 rebounds to go with his 8 points.

Devin McKinnon scored 22 points for Clay-Chalkville (10-5). The Cougars hit 11 3-pointers.

Huntsville shot 75 percent from the floor – 87 percent on 2-point attempts and 50 percent from behind the 3-point arc.

ALABAMA-FLORIDA CHALLENGE

Williamson 60, Crestview (Fla.) 52

The Lions’ win was their third straight in the tournament at Tate High School in Cantonment, Fla.

Corien Coleman led Williamson with 19 points. He also had 3 steals. Mikel Bonner had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Johnathan Johnson scored 12 with 8 rebounds.

HUNTSVILLE/TENNESSEE VALLEY

TIMESDAILY CLASSIC

Florence 73, Red Bay 66

The Falcons had four players score in double figures to advance to the semifinals of the tournament on Tuesday.

Bryant James led Florence with 16 points. Alleick Shipley scored 15 and Julian King added 14 in the win. Jayshod Pearson scored 11 for Florence.

Lawson Glover led Red Bay with 23 points. Ty Reynolds scored 13 and Gage Edgmon had 10.

ADIDAS SHOOTOUT

Sparkman 54, Franklin County (Tenn.) 49

The Senators topped Franklin County, Tenn., in the Adidas Shootout at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on Wednesday.

Orlandis Beale led Sparkman with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Jayden Bass scored 8 points in the win while Caleb Lightford had 5 rebounds and 5 steals to go with his 6 points.

NON-TOURNAMENT GAMES

Skyline 48, Decatur Heritage 37

Skyline picked up the win on the road on Thursday. Brody Berlinger scored 13 points for the Vikings. Jake Cloud added 12 in the win.

Nash Thomas had a double-double for Decatur Heritage, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Brady Wilson had 11 points and 7 rebounds.

Buckhorn 81, Sparkman 44

Caleb Holt scored 20 points and Jeremiah Wilson had 20 to lead the Bucks to the home win on Monday. Josh Wilkerson added 12 for Buckhorn.

Eighth-grader Tylan Pace poured in 27 points for Sparkman, including hitting 7-of-11 on 3-pointers.

STATEWIDE

JACK SCHWEERS CAPITAL CITY CLASSIC

Montgomery Academy 68, Tallassee 53

The Eagles outscored Tallassee 34-20 in the first half and closed out the game in the 29th annual Jack Schweers Capital City Classic with a 22-13 fourth-quarter effort on Thursday.

Skyler Stovall led the winners with 15 points. He also had 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. DJ Vinson notched a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds to go with 8 blocked shots. Cole Caddell scored 14 points with 5 rebounds. Seth Edwards also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds with 3 blocked shots.

Montgomery Academy (11-3) will play in the Marlin Christmas Classic on Dec. 28 at Arnold High School in Panama City Beach, Fla.

On Wednesday, MA beat Montgomery Catholic 74-55 thanks to a second-half rally. The Eagles trailed 32-26 at the intermission, but outscored Montgomery Catholic 29-11 in the third period and 19-12 in the fourth for the win.

Caddell led Montgomery Academy with 25 points, hitting 7-of-11 3-pointers. Stovall scored 19 points, grabbed 9 rebounds with 6 assists and 4 steals. Vinson scored 15 points, 13 in the second half, hauled down 21 rebounds and blocked 6 shots. Brewer Welch had 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Edwards had 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Trinity 75, Prattville Christian 51

PCA dropped to 7-8 on the season with the loss to Trinity.

Collier Connell led the Panthers with 21 points in the loss. Cade Segars scored 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. PJ Evans had 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Lathan Rybarczyk claimed 6 rebounds.

Prattville Christian plays Southside-Gadsden at Supreme Courts in Guntersville on Dec. 27.

Prattville Christian 62, Wetumpka 50

Cade Segars poured in 29 points, made 5 steals and had 4 assists for PCA in the win on Wednesday. The junior guard was one of three Panthers scoring in double figures.

PJ Evans scored 13 points with 9 assists and 7 rebounds. Collier Connell added 11 in the win. Brady Roberson scored 8 points and had 7 rebounds.

On Tuesday, Prattville Christian slipped past Montgomery Catholic 56-53 in the opening round.

Segars led the Panthers with 24 points. He also had 4 rebounds and took 3 charges. Evans scored 12 points and claimed 7 rebounds for the winners. Collier Connell added 11 points for PCA. Lathan Rybarczyk grabbed 9 rebounds and Justin Chapman had 6.
