Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. I am hoping to clean out my house of things and get things in order before the end of summer but summer is passing fast and I am not making as much progress as I had planned.
School is out and I am sure many of the students have found jobs. I hope the students are happy and enjoying a great summer.
My two grandsons graduated last month. One grandson graduated from Auburn University and his girlfriend Maddie graduated from the University of Alabama. My other grandson graduated from Huntsville High. The high school graduation ceremonies were held at the VBC and there were 3 different graduations held that same day. My daughter-in-law’s mother fell down the stairs at the VBC when we were leaving the ceremonies. She ended up having a broken rib but it could have been so much worse. I want to thank the VBC workers, HEMSI workers and the several people that stopped to attend to her. I pray she has a speedy recovery.
SUPREME COURT CASES
The justices have 33 remaining cases to be decided on by the end of June or the first of July. Among these decisions are Roe vs Wade abortion, the right to carry guns, religion in Schools, climate change and migrants at the Borders. These are all important issues.
VOTING AGAIN
There is a runoff for the Senate race on June 21. Mike Durant says he will not vote in the Senate runoff because Katie Britt doesn’t deserve to be a senator. Mo Brooks has been in politics for 40 years and I believe he knows what is needed to help make a better quality of life for the citizens. There has been so much bashing of candidates by other candidates which I hate to see.
HUNTSVILLE LEADERS
It is so sad to see Huntsville’s development in the shape it is in. Our leaders only care about allowing big brick buildings to be developed by developers with big parking garages. There is no green space left between the buildings and buildings are being built almost in the street with very little room to drive. Changing the City ordinances, setbacks and the rights-of-way have ruined our beautiful city but the developers wanted all the space for their development. Building a bigger city and being bigger is not the right answer for Huntsville. We had a beautiful city and now when you drive around you can barely see the sky for all the buildings. Governors Drive, across from the Post Office is a disaster for traffic coming off the interstate. Tearing down the Parking garage downtown was a terrible decision and the tearing down of the Housing Project on Governors Drive by the Housing Authority is insane. This property should be remodeled for mixed-use property instead of the developers getting rich off this property.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
