BALTIMORE, Md. — Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is making it clear that his Christian faith matters more to him than fame, football or personal recognition.
The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player recently shared a message on his Instagram Story declaring, “If it’s not from Jesus Christ I don’t want it. I’m not bending my faith; it’s not worth it.”
Jackson’s statement reflects a belief he has expressed publicly throughout his professional career. When GQ asked him to identify the essential items he could not live without, Jackson placed the Bible first.
“I can’t live without the Bible, can’t live without God,” Jackson said. He credited God with awakening him each day and giving him the ability to perform professionally.
The 29-year-old quarterback also keeps faith at the center of conversations about his football legacy. When asked in June how he hopes to be remembered, Jackson said he was not concentrating on awards or his place in NFL history.
“I just try to be the best player I can be, keeping God first,” he explained.
Jackson has carried that faith beyond words. In December 2025, he joined Ravens teammates Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers in washing the feet of students at Severn Elementary School and providing them with new shoes. The act of humility reflected Jesus washing His disciples’ feet in John 13.
“I wanted to do something for the community and do something Christ-like,” Jackson said following the service event.
Jackson entered the NFL in 2018 after winning the Heisman Trophy at Louisville. Although his accomplishments have made him one of football’s most celebrated stars, his latest message reveals the foundation beneath his success: an unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ.
