Montgomery, AL⎯ The Montgomery County Democratic Conference (MCDC) and other local units of ADC also endorsed candidates running in the March 3rd Democratic Primary during the ADC’s 60th Anniversary on February 7 -8 in Montgomery, Alabama. The MCDC endorsements are listed below.

- Isiah Sankey Montgomery County Commission, District 4
- Cassandra Brown Montgomery County BOE, District 4
- Arica Watkins-Smith Montgomery County BOE, District 7
Joe M. Reed, Chairman of the MCDC said local candidates are screened by the ADC county units. He said that persons who do not appear before the organization cannot be considered for endorsement. The ADC has a 50-year-old rule that prohibits considering any candidate who does not make an appearance before the group. He said all the candidates endorsed were acceptable and determined they want support from the organization. The ADC also called on the voters to reject Amendment 1 that would give the governor the power to appoint the state school board and take the vote away from the people. Joe L. Reed, Chairman of the Alabama Democratic Conference, said “this was the most idiotic proposal that has been placed before the people of Alabama in the history of the state.” He added, “we have some people in the Legislature who should not be there!”
