On Feb 16, 2019, Rho Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated hosted “Dollar$ and Cent$: A Financial Workshop for Youth” at the Madison Public Library. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Delvin Sullivan, author of “The Wealthy Child”, a book written to educate youth on generating income, budgeting, banking, establishing credit, making purchases, investing and then giving back. The workshop was geared towards students ages 6 to 16 and provided practical advice on maintaining a good credit score, investing in the stock market, generating multiple streams of income, and the importance of building wealth at an early age. Workshop participants were presented with a copy of Mr. Sullivan’s book and companion workbook. In addition to the workshop, participants toured the library and learned of the free and valuable resources that are available for their use. The Dollar$ and Cent$ workshop was presented in accordance with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s international program theme “Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service”, which is to inspire our communities and renew our efforts to be of service to all mankind.
