AAMU President Andrew Hugine, Jr., along with AAMU Board of Trustee members, alumni, students, and sup-porters participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony unveiling AAMU’s new scoreboard. With more than 50,000 in attendance at Louis Crews Stadium annually and more than 45,000 traveling North Memorial Parkway daily, a new advertising videoboard and scoreboard will give AAMU a broader presence and more marketing opportunity. AAMU’s past scoreboard was obsolete and was becoming more expensive to maintain.

Huntsville, Ala. —- Football fans and University officials at Alabama A&M celebrated the launch of a new gridiron experience at Louis Crews Stadium Saturday, September 8, with the addition of a state-of-the-art marketing video display scoreboard.

Students, fans, and University officials participated in a ribbon cutting program one hour prior to a dynamic football game between the AAMU Bulldogs and the University of North Alabama Lions. The scoreboard is the culmination of a year-long fundraising drive through which more than $1 million was raised to erect the structure, along with a new digital marquee on Memorial Parkway that will provide advertising opportunities to some 45,000 motorists daily.

AAMU President Andrew Hugine, Jr., announced this summer that the $1 million goal had been achieved and the scoreboard would be erected during the 2018 football season at the 22,000-seat Louis Crews Stadium. The scoreboard fundraising project attracted more than 300 donors.

Archie Tucker II, vice president for marketing, communication and advancement, added that the scoreboard will provide opportunities for a new revenue stream, as AAMU will now have the ability to engage the corporate community through paid advertisements. Athletic Director Bryan Hicks noted that the fan experience will be greatly enhanced through a number of board features including instant replay, a loud meter, and kiss cam to name a few.

Athletic sponsorship packages include scoreboard advertisement and are now available for the 2019 football season. For more information, please contact Bryan Hicks at 256-372-8057.
