ONE WOMAN’S OPINION

Jackie Reed, Columnist

Thanks, to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers.  We had great weather on Easter Sunday as many Easter services were held in-person, both indoors and out. Central Community Christian Church met Easter Sunday at 10:00 and mask were required.  The sermon was also broadcast live online.  The churches are ready to get back and worship in person. Hope and pray that all will be normal again soon.

TORNADOES

Thank God we were lucky once again on the storms coming in our area. There is a lot of grief for many families affected by the storms and for their losses.  Prayers go out to those who lost loved ones.  The tornadoes are not to be taken lightly as we have had bad ones over the years in our area.

VACCINE

The vaccine rate in Alabama is one of the lowest in the nation.  The State Health officials insists the state is catching up. Alabama State Health Officer said Alabama fell behind early on with vaccinations because of providers and a limited amount of the product.

COMMISSIONER – DALE STRONG

Commissioner Dale Strong is running for office to replace Rep. Mo Brooks. Strong say’s Trump was the greatest President and one who cared about the people. Strong says he wants to represent and carry on the fight as President Trump did.

CITY OF HUNTSVILLE

What do our city leaders have their minds on while building all these TALL buildings and garages for the developers.  It is time for a new government in Huntsville but that is just my opinion.  Having lived her since 1958, I have attended many City Council and Planning meetings through 4 different Mayors and lots of elected council people. I have never seen such government as what we have now.  It seems there is no planning and when the big developers bring their projects to the meetings, they are all given what they want.  Look at our downtown. It really is a mess with all those big sky-high buildings.  There is no breathing room or any vacant land to enjoy because of all huge buildings.  I believe we have ruined our city and the Mayor is not interested or seems to not question things much.  Is this why so many buildings are on the agenda as surplus so that they can set their friends up in business. I hope my thinking is wrong but what I see going on makes it look to be the true.  We have a beautiful park downtown. We should build back the City Hall building where it is today and not let the developers take that property. We absolutely need to keep the parking garage where it is in the center of the city more than we need retail and other stuff.

Love you all and have a blessed week.
