NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A mother’s effort to save for Christmas has grown into a financial empowerment initiative encouraging women to build savings one manageable deposit at a time.
Jasmine Danyell, a Black entrepreneur and mother of four, founded HER Money Movement and created the HER 1K Stack, a challenge that divides a $1,000 savings goal into smaller contributions, including $10 and $25 deposits. A bright pink bucket serves as a visible reminder of participants’ progress.
Danyell started the idea because she wanted to cover her children’s Christmas gifts without taking money from regular household expenses. Setting money aside throughout the year offered an alternative to finding the entire amount during the holiday season.
Her approach focuses on completing individual deposits rather than becoming overwhelmed by the full savings target. Participants mark off contributions as they work toward their goal.
According to BlackNews.com’s Oct. 9 report, videos featuring the bucket attracted millions of views. Women shared goals ranging from holiday purchases and vehicle expenses to emergency savings and household bills. The reported view totals were not independently verified.
Danyell also takes the initiative into communities, asking women, “What are you saving for?” Those conversations connect the challenge to the everyday responsibilities and aspirations behind each savings goal.
The report said she was preparing to introduce the HER 3K Stack, a physical challenge book intended to help participants work toward $3,000. Its availability was not independently confirmed.
Through savings trackers, social media, and community accountability, Danyell’s initiative presents financial progress as a series of small, intentional steps.
