HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama A&M University’s Bulldog Bards will return to The Orion Amphitheater on Thursday, October 1, for the fifth annual Bard in the Yard.
This year’s presentation, Shakespeare in Love & War, draws on scenes of affection, conflict, and battle. The cast is preparing a performance that includes stage combat alongside Shakespeare’s words. Shows at The Orion are scheduled for 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 6 p.m.
The production gives Alabama A&M students a public stage for their theater work. It also gives Huntsville audiences an opportunity to experience Shakespeare through a local cast in a setting outside a traditional theater.
The Bulldog Bards are part of a wider theater effort at Alabama A&M. The university has described its partnership with Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy as a way for students to gain performance and production experience while bringing theater to North Alabama audiences. Organizers say additional Bard in the Yard showtimes are planned at Fantasy Playhouse and Alabama A&M’s Johnson Little Theater.
