The Monte Sano Art Festival returns Sept. 19–20 with more than 140 visual artists, live music, local food and a weekend celebrating creativity atop Monte Sano.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — One of North Alabama’s most colorful fall traditions returns to Monte Sano State Park Sept. 19–20, bringing together more than 140 visual artists, live music, food and mountain views.

Presented by Arts Huntsville, the Monte Sano Art Festival will run Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more than two decades, the festival has given residents and visitors an opportunity to meet artists, explore original work and experience Huntsville’s creative community in an outdoor setting.

This year’s Arts Marketplace includes artists from Huntsville and across the country working in painting, photography, jewelry, glass, wood, clay, mixed media and other disciplines.

Music will also be part of the weekend. Scheduled performers include Huntsville saxophonist Alex Banks, Opera Huntsville, Sylvia Dean, Alexis Jackson, Tanya Harris, the Randolph Music Department and other local and regional musicians.

Festivalgoers can browse one-of-a-kind artwork, enjoy food from local food trucks and spend the day surrounded by the natural beauty of Monte Sano.

Arts Huntsville does not charge admission to the festival. However, Monte Sano State Park will collect $10 per vehicle for parking or $5 per walk-in attendee, cash only. Those funds support Alabama’s state park system.

For local artists, musicians and arts supporters, the festival is more than a weekend market. It is a celebration of creativity and a reminder that Huntsville’s cultural identity extends well beyond rockets and technology.

The Monte Sano Art Festival takes place at Monte Sano State Park, 5105 Nolen Avenue in Huntsville.
