
NEW ORLEANS—Thousands of music lovers, community leaders and celebrities gathered in New Orleans as the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture wrapped up another successful celebration of Black excellence, entertainment and empowerment.
This year’s festival featured an impressive lineup of performers, speakers and specialguests from across music, film, politics and business. Former First Lady Michelle Obamajoined actress Keke Palmer for a live recording of the “IMO” podcast, where the twodiscussed Obama’s new book and the importance of protecting one’s peace.
Civil rights leaders Dr.Bernice King and Dr.Ilyasah Shabazz shared the spotlight duringtheweekend, while U.S. Rep.Jasmine Crockett inspired audiences with remarks on Blackpolitical and economic empowerment.
The festival’s concert lineup included legendary performers Patti LaBelle, Brandy andMonica, Big Boi, George Clinton, Scarface, DougE. Fresh, Tevin Campbell, Mario andPastor Mike Jr., along with appearances by Cardi B, Teyana Taylor, Daniel Kaluuya, DanielleBrooks, T.I., Sanaa Lathan, Tamar Braxton and many more.
Panel discussions, film screenings, business forums and cultural events filled the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, while nightly concerts packed the Caesars Superdome with enthusiastic fans.
Now in its fourth decade, the ESSENCE Festival of Culture continues to serve as one of the nation’s premier celebrations of Black culture, entrepreneurship, leadership and entertainment, bringing together generations of artists, activists and community leaders for a weekend of inspiration, education and celebration
