SPEAKIN’ OUT NEWS

Black Blocks LLC has launched pre-orders for Black Blocks, a new board game designed to teach financial literacy through African American history and entrepreneurship.
Created by entrepreneur David E. Rogers, the game combines lessons in budgeting, investing, and wealth-building with stories that highlight influential Black historical figures. Designed for ages 12 and older, the game aims to make financial education more engaging and culturally relevant for Black families and youth.
“For too long, financial education has ignored the unique challenges and triumphs of our community,” Rogers said. “Black Blocks celebrates our financial pioneers while teaching the next generation practical wealth-building strategies.”
The game includes “Life Cards” focused on real-world financial decisions and “Fate Cards” that spotlight Black trailblazers such as Madam C.J. Walker, Booker T. Washington, Althea Gibson, and Maggie Lena Walker.
According to the company, beta testing in predominantly Black communities showed strong engagement among teenagers and families, with many parents reporting increased conversations about saving money and entrepreneurship.
Black Blocks has also gained support from educators, HBCUs, financial advisors, and community organizations seeking culturally affirming financial literacy tools for students and families.
The game is available for pre-order through the company’s official website, with special pricing offered for schools and nonprofit organizations.
