The North Alabama National Society of Black Engineers (N AL NSBE) Professionals Scholarship Program awards scholarships to 5th to 12th Grade students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The chapter recently held the 32nd Scholarship Awards Banquet on April 10, 2025. Scholarship Awards were presented for the Creative Minds Poster Contest to 5th graders, Space Camp to Middle School students, the STEM Essay Contest, NSBE Scholar Book Stipends, and Briggs Scholarship for High School Seniors.

Marc Lacy, speaker/author/poet, was the master of ceremonies and set the banquet atmosphere. Ryan Patrick Parker, a motivational speaker and Social Justice Leader, was the keynote speaker. The Element XI band provided musical entertainment.

Dalia Pugh, North Alabama NSBE Scholarship Chair, states, “Tonight, we celebrated not just academic achievement, but perseverance, determination, and the promise of a bright future.”

North Alabama NSBE Professionals encourage youth in their pursuits of careers in engineering and the applied sciences by striving to reinforce the positive essence of minorities in our community, which increases participation and advancement in these areas. We work with elementary, middle, and high school students introducing them to science and engineering through our local NSBE, Jr. Chapter, Fall/Spring Engineering Experiences, School STEM Days, and STEMposium through our Pre-College Initiative; and supporting NSBE Collegiate Chapters at Alabama A&M, Oakwood, and UAH.
