Thanks, Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers.   The years seem to be passing by faster than ever before. I am so glad I lived during the years when people got along better and were happier.  My loved ones that have long passed away would not believe all the bad that is taking place in our great country.  I hope to live long enough for our President to find out about the start of the virus in this country.  Some countries knew way in advanced what was going to happen and chose to stay silent. The Master up above knows how and why all this happened. I pray and know that God will take care of all this soon.

ABSENTEE VOTING IN ALABAMA

Wednesday was the first day registered Alabama voters could apply in person and receive absentee ballots in Alabama for the Presidential election. It is very unusual this year as people in the past could only vote absentee if they were going to be out of the country, disabled or for a few other reasons.  But this year State John Merrill has added the COVID pandemic as a legal reason for a registered voter to vote absentee.

CITY BUDGET

According to papers the city budget has rebounded and sales tax is actually topping last year despite the pandemic.  The budget which tops over $400 million was introduced at last Thursday Council Meeting and will be voted on at the September 24th City Council meeting.  The budget includes cuts to outside agencies who agreed to a 5% reduction in funding for the 2021 fiscal year.  Altogether the agencies will receive $1.98 Million in the proposed budget. This is a decrease of $57,094 from last year.

The City employees deserve a 3-5% raise. This year some of the City Council members voted for the Mayor and the Council to receive a big raise and only gave the other City employees a 1% COLA raise.  I think that is terrible and unfair.  I understand that Council Jeanne Robinson and Bill Kling did not vote for the City Council raise.

The city is spending millions of dollars on building parking garages for their friends and the big developers.  Look at our roads and streets being narrowed for bicycle sidewalks which makes no sense what-so-ever.  Remember they took away the golf course at Airport Road to put in bicycle paths and other things that have not been put in or ever mention again. Who is running this city as I would like to know? I believe Battle would not be doing these things if someone was not helping or telling him what to do.   I will continue to be at the City Council and do all that I can to “Make Huntsville Great Again.”

Love you all and have a blessed week.
