The Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s Urban Affairs and New Nontraditional Programs unit, the Partnership for a Drug-Free Community, WellStone Behavioral Health, the Department of Public Safety at Alabama A&M University and other partners will participate in the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 27, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
When unused or expired drugs are thrown away incorrectly, medications can end up in the water supply, as part of local landfills, or even in nearby garbage cans, where people can easily find them.
This year, Madison County area residents and organizations have five drop-off sites for residents to bring unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medication for proper disposal. Unwanted drugs will also be accepted for pets.
Drop-off Sites:
- Parking lot next to Huntsville Police Department at 815 Wheeler Ave NW (Huntsville)
- CVS Pharmacy at 2210 Winchester Road (Huntsville)
- Alabama A&M University Wellness Center at 4011 Meridian Street (Huntsville)
- Madison Police Department at 100 Hughes Road (Madison)
- CVS Pharmacy at 12275 HWY 231-431 North (Meridianville)
