Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. Hope all the fathers had a happy, blessed day and were told how much they are loved. Fathers only get one day a year, so we need to make it a special one for them. I was always thankful for the raising my father gave me. We lived 8 miles out in the country near Sparta, Tennessee and worked very hard on the farm. My father has been gone for many years but will never be forgotten. “Our Father which Art in Heaven” is beautiful and we should all be thankful for our many blessings. Both my children believe I am tough on many issues. My son calls me the “Tough Ole Bird’ and I love it. Tell your parents often how much you love them.
SCHOOL TEACHERS
Thanks to the many School Teachers who are retiring. Thank you for your dedicated service and you all did a great job. The retired teachers were on the Channel 25 School Channel with their pictures and years of Service, and many had been teachers for 10 years and longer. The next few years will be a challenge for our school system, but it will all work out well.
LAKE GUNTERSVILLE
The Tennessee River keeper and the Environmental System has filed a notice that they intend to sue Guntersville Water Board over untreated sewage spills in Lake Guntersville. Records filed by the Water Board shows that 1.7 million gallons of sewage has overflowed since 2017 and over 680,000 gallons spilled over in March 2021. The reason for the lawsuit is to stop sewage overflow into the Guntersville Lake. I hope this issue will be addressed as quickly as possible as this lake is important to our communities and used by so many people.
RESEARCH PARK
I was reading where 2 office buildings in Research Park sold for $18.35 Million to Albany Road Real Estate. Our Research Park has been the nation’s second largest Research Park for years. Albany Road Real has had improvements to the buildings planned for some time. The buildings were 90% occupied at the time of the sale and include offices for many technology, engineering and government contractor companies such as Lockheed Martin, General Electric and many more. There will be 260,000 square feet of leases signed in Huntsville. I hope we keep Cummings Research in business and do not turn it in to residential property.
HUNTSVILL LEADERS
I cannot believe how Huntsville Leaders have made a mess of Huntsville with all the ugly tall buildings You hear people from New York say they do not like to go downtown anymore because all you see is one tall building after another and cannot find a place with open space. Whoever is planning this City should be FIRED. Dallas Fanning would not be happy with what has become of our city, and I will not be here in 2025 to see the debt and the mess these bad decisions cause. More Hometown folks should have been involved in the planning because they live here and will be paying the 50-year-old leases on the buildings and garages the city is funding. I love this city and the people, and some of the money our leaders are spending should be given to their great employees who never get a decent raise.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
