Tennessee Valley SAR to Honor Veterans in Hartselle and Huntsville Parades

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will honor America’s military veterans by participating in Veterans Day parades in Hartselle on Saturday, November 7, and Huntsville on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

Members of the chapter’s Color Guard, dressed in Revolutionary War-era military and civilian attire, will participate in both parades, representing the Patriots whose service helped secure American independence.

At the Huntsville parade on November 11, the Tennessee Valley Chapter’s historical float will feature two scenes commemorating America’s founding. The first depicts the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia in 1776, while the second portrays an officer reading the Declaration to assembled Continental soldiers. Together, these scenes illustrate the connection between the ideals upon which our nation was founded and the generations of American service members who have defended those principles.

The Hartselle Veterans Day Parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. on November 7, followed by the Huntsville Veterans Day Parade at 11:00 a.m. on November 11. Both events will bring together veterans, military families, community organizations, and local residents in recognition of the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

“Veterans Day provides an opportunity to recognize the men and women who have answered our nation’s call to service,” said Lawrence Hillis, president of the Tennessee Valley Chapter. “Our chapter is honored to participate in these community celebrations and express our gratitude to all who have worn the uniform of our Armed Forces.”
