According to Madison County election information, absentee voting opens Sept. 9 at the Madison County Service Center, 1918 Memorial Parkway NW in Huntsville. The absentee office will operate from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Voters who are not registered have until Oct. 19. Registration forms delivered in person to the Madison County Board of Registrars must arrive by 4:45 p.m., while online registration through the Alabama Secretary of State remains available until midnight.

Residents may also register when obtaining or renewing an Alabama driver’s license or non-driver identification card.

For absentee voters, Oct. 27 is the last day to request a ballot by mail, while Oct. 29 at 4:30 p.m. is the deadline to apply in person. Absentee ballots returned by mail must reach election officials by noon on Nov. 3.

Government-issued photo identification is generally required unless a voter qualifies for an exemption.
