Alabama A&M University, in partnership with the Huntsville-Madison County Library Foundation, will welcome New York Times best-selling author Tayari Jones back to campus during Homecoming Week.
“An Evening with Tayari Jones” will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. in the Clyde Foster Multipurpose Room at AAMU. A book signing will follow.
Jones returns to campus as her fifth novel, “Kin,” receives national acclaim. The book was selected for Oprah’s Book Club, named among The New York Times’ best books of 2026 so far, and included among former President Barack Obama’s Summer 2026 favorites.
The visit also carries a special AAMU connection. Jones’ mother, Dr. Barbara Jones, previously served the University as a faculty member and dean of the College of Business and Public Affairs.
Tayari Jones is also the author of “Leaving Atlanta,” “The Untelling,” “Silver Sparrow” and the award-winning “An American Marriage.”
Tickets are $15 for admission or $35 with a copy of “Kin.” Seating is limited, and reservations are encouraged.
