HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Families looking for a fun and colorful way to spend a summer morning are invited to participate in the 2026 Color Jam Family Run & Walk on Saturday, July 11, at John Hunt Park.
Hosted by Huntsville Parks & Recreation, the free community event will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. near the John Hunt Park Festival Grounds. Open to participants of all ages, the untimed run and walk encourages families, friends, and neighbors to come together for exercise, entertainment, and plenty of colorful fun.
Along the paved course, runners and walkers will be showered with vibrant, multi-colored powders, creating a festive atmosphere designed to celebrate Parks & Recreation Month. Participants are encouraged to wear white clothing and bright neon accessories to make the colors stand out even more.
In addition to the run and walk, attendees can enjoy music provided by a live DJ, prize giveaways, and concessions available for purchase. Following the event, Huntsville Fire & Rescue will provide a fire truck rinse-off station, giving participants a chance to cool down after crossing the finish line.
Huntsville Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett said the event has quickly become a favorite among local families.
“Color Jam is quickly becoming a community favorite for Parks & Recreation Month,” Gossett said. “The event gives kids and adults a chance to let loose, embrace the color and have a blast.”
Online registration is available, while on-site registration and check-in begin at 8 a.m. the day of the event. Organizers recommend participants wear comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for colored powders and water.
