Mobile police officers arrested a Louisiana murder suspect after identifying him during an intake process at a local facility. Authorities are working to extradite the suspect back to Louisiana following the alleged Easter Sunday killings.

MOBILE, Ala. — A Louisiana man wanted in connection with the Easter Sunday killings of his mother and grandmother has been arrested in Alabama after authorities say he attempted to hide his identity.

Lee Collins III, 22, was taken into custody in Mobile after police were alerted to irregularities during an intake process at AltaPointe Health, according to officials.

Mobile Police Public Affairs Manager Blake Brown said officers responded Monday afternoon after staff noticed something was wrong.

“The individual provided false identifying information,” Brown said. “Our officers were able to properly identify the subject as Lee Collins III, who is wanted on two counts of murder in Louisiana.”

Authorities said Collins is accused of fatally shooting his mother, Trenelle Collins, 55, and his grandmother, Mary Major, 75, on Sunday evening in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana.

Following the incident, investigators say Collins fled the area and stole a white 2019 Ford stake-bed truck. The vehicle was later recovered in Bay Minette, Alabama.

Law enforcement agencies across state lines worked together to locate and detain Collins, highlighting coordinated efforts between Alabama and Louisiana authorities.

Mobile police have notified the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, which is now working to extradite Collins back to Louisiana to face charges.

Officials have not released additional details about the motive behind the killings. The case remains under investigation
