Byline: SPEAKIN’ OUT NEWS

Authorities are urging the public to come forward with information in a tragic hit-and-run case that took the life of a 32-year-old Alabama man earlier this year.
DeQuarius L. Pritchett was killed on January 18, 2026, along Alabama Highway 5, approximately two miles south of Pine Hill in Wilcox County. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m., when officials say Pritchett was in the roadway and was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene without stopping.
Pritchett was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving family members and the surrounding community searching for answers and justice.
In an effort to generate leads, Crime Stoppers has announced a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the driver responsible. At this time, both the suspect and the vehicle involved remain unknown.
Investigators are calling on residents who may have seen anything unusual in the area that night to come forward. Authorities are especially interested in any surveillance footage, dashcam video, or firsthand accounts that could help piece together what happened.
Community leaders say cases like this highlight the importance of collective responsibility and awareness. Even the smallest detail could help bring closure to a grieving family and accountability to those involved.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP (7867). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the P3 Tips app or online.
As the investigation continues, the community is reminded that justice often begins with a single voice willing to speak up.
