HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M started strong but couldn’t hold off a relentless Prairie View A&M offense as the Panthers scored 48 unanswered points to claim a 48–5 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) win on Saturday at Louis Crews Stadium.
The Bulldogs (4–6 overall, 1–5 SWAC) jumped out to a 5–0 lead after a 33-yard field goal by David Faulk and a safetyby Dimitris Biamby early in the second quarter. However, Prairie View A&M (7–3, 5–1) found its rhythm late in the first half and never looked back.
Panthers quarterback Cameron Peters delivered a stellar performance, completing 17 of 22 passes for 394 yards and five touchdowns. His 40-yard connection with Andre Dennis set up a 39-yard scoring strike to Ja’Koby Banks, giving PVAMU a 7–5 lead. Just before halftime, Peters hit Jyzaiah Rockwell for a 39-yard touchdown, pushing the Panthers ahead 13–5 at the break.
The second half belonged entirely to Prairie View. Peters connected with Rockwell for two more touchdowns — from 27and 9 yards — before adding a deep 56-yard strike to Chaney Fitzgerald. Dennis and Shadrick Byrd each added rushing scores as the Panthers piled up 607 total yards, including 394 through the air.
Despite a promising start, the Bulldogs struggled to sustain drives, managing 204 total yards and 15 first downs. Quarterback Eric Handley finished 18 of 36 for 101 yards, while Isaiah Nwokenkwo led the ground game with 62 yards on five carries.
On defense, Robert Iverson Jr. recorded seven tackles, while Robert Cole provided bright moments on special teams, punting 11 times for 480 yards — a season high.
The loss marked Alabama A&M’s first home defeat of the season and the largest margin in the series against Prairie View. The Bulldogs fell to 8–11 all-time versus the Panthers.
