August 14, 2025 – Redstone Federal Credit Union is proud to shine a light on five individuals who are making a meaningful difference in their communities and introduce them as its 2025 Community Champions. Now in its third year, the credit union’s Community Champions program celebrates everyday heroes in North Alabama and Middle Tennessee who inspire change and uplift those around them.

The 2025 Community Champions are:

Matthew Dormus, a mental health advocate, created a safe space for his peers on their college campus.

Janet Geist, who has played a pivotal role in training dogs and their owners for search-andrescue missions.

Christie Harmon, who supports families battling childhood cancer by raising the funds they need while undergoing treatment.

Brent and Anna Morgan, who provide critical support fand community or foster families.

Kate O’Neal, who collects and distributes clothing, hygiene products, and other essentials to Madison County students.

The program builds on Redstone’s founding values. Just as 11 members each contributed $5 in 1946 to uplift others, Redstone values bringing attention to these unsung heroes. The exposure leads to donations, more awareness, and helps them recruit volunteers for their causes.

Past honoree Leo Robison of Second Chance Ministries shared, “The Community Champion Award helped us reach new donors and significantly increase the number of coats we donated to local schools.”

This year’s honorees will be celebrated at a special awards ceremony held at Redstone’s Twickenham branch where they will be recognized with a documentary-style video and a specially crafted award among their families, friends, and Redstone leadership.

“Our communities are stronger because of the tireless efforts of these champions,” said Joe Newberry, President and CEO of Redstone Federal Credit Union.
