WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. State Department has issued a worldwide travel alert urging Americans to exercise increased caution following a coordinated bombing campaign by the U.S. and Israel targeting nuclear sites in Iran

The advisory warns of the potential for demonstrations, unrest, and violence globally as tensions in the Middle East escalate. The conflict has already led to airspace closures and travel disruptions across the region.

“The conflict between Israel and Iran has resulted in disruptions to travel and periodic closure of airspace across the Middle East,” the alert stated.

Level 4: Do Not Travel

  • Israel and Iran remain under a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory due to the risk of armed conflict.
  • U.S. citizens currently in Israel or the West Bank are urged to leave immediately, even if only limited travel options are available.
  • Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv is currently closed, with no scheduled commercial or charter flights.

The State Department is organizing departure assistance and directing citizens to alternative land crossings into Jordan or Egypt

Conditions in Iran

With Iranian airspace closed, Americans in Iran are advised to leave by land routes into Turkey, Armenia, or Azerbaijan, if possible. Those unable to travel are urged to shelter in place and remain in contact with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
