
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (May 5, 2025) – Howard University sophomore Paris Fieldings from Chesapeake,Va. was tied for fifth overall in the individual leaderboard at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional, held at the Birdwood Golf Club (par 71, 6,365 yards).
After 18 holes, the Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year shot 6-over par (77)with one birdie on hole two. The Virginia native is tied with UNC-Wilmington’s Hannah Altman. Maryland’s Nicha Kanpai holds the top spot after Day One, firing 1-under par (70)with a seven-stroke lead over Fieldings.
Fieldings continued with round two Tuesday (May 6), beginning with a 9:50 a.m., shotgun start time.
Fielding is the first Bison in school history to win the conference’s individual NEC title. The Virginia native posted a 227 (+11) over 54 holes to win the NEC crown. The Bison team fell one shot short of Fairleigh-Dickinson in winning the team NEC title.
Without Fieldings, the Howard women’s golf team is tied for first after round one of the PGA Works Collegiate Championships (PWCC), held at the Whistling Straits – Irish Course (par-72, 6,709 yards) in Kohler, Wis. Collectively, the Bison shot 14-over par (302) with three golfers sitting in the top 10; Emily Mayne (72), Marley Franklin (74) and Kendall Jackson (75)
