No matter how long a couple’s been married, certain issues will always require attention. How they communicate. How they resolve conflict. How they define and display intimacy. How they deal with money.

Oakwood University Church’s (OUC) Family Ministries’ leaders, Nichole and Malcolm Taylor, want to help couples learn how to manage these issues through OUC’s “Love in Action 2025” Marriage Conference on April 26. The guest presenter? Calvin “Pastor Cal” Roberson, featured marriage advisor for couples on Lifetime’s “Married at First Sight” television reality series.

“This conference will focus on love, growth, and connection,” say the Taylors. Pastor Cal, who is also a minister and author, will help couples navigate how they listen, interpret, and react to each other’s communication styles, and offer positive ways to resolve conflict. He’ll be using principles from his book, “Marriage Ain’t for Punks.”

The conference kicks off on Friday evening, April 25, at OUC. On Saturday, the conference continues at The Venue at Oak Place, starting with a continental breakfast and moving into different sessions, Q&As, and relationship-building exercises. “Not only do we want to help couples with their communication,” say the Taylors, “we also want to help couples expand their intimacy and give them practical ways to express their love daily.”

The conference is open to any couple in Huntsville and surrounding communities. A conference fee is required to attend. Couples can register by going to oucsda.churchcenter.com/registrations. Registration will close on April 21.
