The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 1067 in Huntsville hosted its 13th Annual Observance of National Vietnam War Veterans Day on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The ceremony took place at 11:00 a.m. at the Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial Park.
This year’s guest speaker was retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Peggy Williams, who currently serves as the Lauderdale County Veterans Service Officer (VSO) with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Florence, Alabama. In her remarks, Williams highlighted that 2.7 million service members participated in the Vietnam War, and more than 58,000 made the ultimate sacrifice.
The program was co-emceed by retired Huntsville news anchor Tom Kennemer and VVA Chapter 1067 member John Perry. The Grissom High School Army Junior ROTC presented the Colors, and musical selections were performed by the Rocket City Chorus.
In the absence of Chapter President Bobby Langford, Sr., First Vice President Lee Parker led the ceremony. Several Chapter 1067 members contributed to the program, including James Henderson, Lee Miller, Charlie Miller, Richard Knight, David Dunlap, Josh Perry, and John Elmore.
