ATLANTA – On Saturday, Miles left no doubt about which women’s basketball program is the most dominant in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Featuring a swirling defense and offensive strikes from all over the floor, the Lady Bears dominated from the start in earning a 68-54 win over rival Tuskegee to win the 2025 SIAC Women’s Basketball Tournament presented by Cricket. For Miles (22-6), it marked the second consecutive year that it won the women’s title. The back-to-back championships is a feat never before accomplished in the history of he program and just the sixth time in the 45-year history of the league’s women’s basketball tournament and last done in 2017.
The victory was so thorough that Miles trailed for only 16 seconds. After allowing the opening bucket of the game, Feliah Greer answered with a jumper to tie the game and Iemyiah Harris followed with a 3-ball for a 5-2 lead. The Lady Bears never trailed again. Madison Lee followed with a 3-pointer as part of her six-point quarter and the Lady Bears would lead 14-11 after the opening period.
But it was in the second quarter that Miles took control. A vicious 13-1 run was paced by Harris, the Tournament Most Valuable Player. She opened the quarter with a 3-pointer and kept finding her way free for open shots. When she scored the ninth point of that stretch, the Lady Bears had opened a 15-point advantage – 27-12 – with three minutes remaining before halftime.
Tuskegee trailed 29-18 at the half but scored the first four points in the opening two minutes of the third quarter to draw to within seven. But the Golden Tigers never got any closer. Greer began her star turn with a 3-pointer that put the lead back into double figures. She added another bucket later in the quarter and Lee closed the frame by making all of her free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt. Miles held a 43-34 after three quarters.
The lead was just eight points in the early moments of the fourth quarter before Miles put the finishing touches on the contest. The Lady Bears held Tuskegee without a field goal for more than four minutes and ultimately spread the lead as high as 19 points with less than three minutes to go. The Lady Bears were able to dribble out the clock on their ninth straight win and begin the celebrations due to a two-time champion as it awaits opponent in the NCAA Tournament.
Hilani Cantone scored 16 points and Cynanye Bobbie added 13 to lead Tuskegee. Harris scored a game-high 24 points, Greer added 15 points, Lee had 12 and Tederia Ashley finished with eight for the Lady Bears. Greer and Ashley joined Harris on the All-Tournament Team.
