Adtran, one of Huntsville’s flagship technology companies, is selling part of its new 424,511 square foot headquarters and property in Cummings Research Park. Its leaders say the sale is another sign of the pandemic’s effect on American work patterns.
“Like many other tech companies,” Adtran spokesman Robert Conger said Thursday, “we have a lot more hybrid and remote employees today than we had pre-pandemic.”
“As a result, we don’t have the same office space needs that we have had in the past,” Conger said.
“We still have the larger 9-story East tower that includes the attached manufacturing center and conference center,” Conger said later. “The buildings that are for sale are the smaller North and South towers.”
“We are selling 424,511 (square feet) of the North and South towers,” Conger said, “and we will be consolidating our Huntsville campus into the 600,000-plus (square foot East Tower facility that we are retaining as our corporate headquarters.”
