In a feature for the New England Patriots’ website after his first season with the NFL team, defensive tackle Christian Barmore said his favorite football memory was walking onto the field with his mother for Senior Day at Alabama.
Now Barmore has escorted his mother, Heri Barmore, into a new home. On Sunday night, Christian Barmore shared a video via his Instagram account that featured the former Crimson Tide standout showing his mother around her new house.
Barmore wrote with the video, “All for you, momma” followed by three hearts.
Heri Barmore lives with multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms vary from case to case, but include fatigue, pain, vision loss and impaired coordination.
During his three seasons with the Patriots, Barmore has used the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats program to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
“I’ve seen the pain they go through,” Barmore said during a My Cause, My Cleats week about MS victims. “Taking needles every day to keep them healthy, can’t be in the heat for a long time because it might trigger them. I’m doing this because of my mom. When I was young, I didn’t even understand what happened. …
“Every day, I just fight for my mom.”
Barmore joined New England from Alabama’s 2020 undefeated CFP national-championship team in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He has one season remaining on his four-year, $8.522 million rookie contract. As a three-year veteran, he is eligible for a contract extension.
Barmore is coming off his best NFL season. In 2023, he reached career-high totals with 64 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, 16 quarterback hits and six passes defended.
Only two other NFL players matched Barmore’s numbers in those categories during the 2023 season – Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt and Los Angeles Chargers outside linebacker Khalil Mack. Watt and Mack were Pro Bowl Games selections, and Watt made first-team All-Pro.
